Distance Education
In some of my cartooning lessons, I incorporate Skype as a form of teaching. In 2015, I contacted a Charter school in Georgia and a school in Florida. The Georgia school’s lessons lasted 4 lessons twice a week for two weeks and the Florida lesson was a two-hour lecture and introduction to creating comic books. During a residency in 2012 and 2013 at Harding School, students created their own digitally printed comic books that were exhibited in San Diego. These comic books were a culminating project from a year long residency. Incidentally we traded our comicbooks for comicbooks drawn by the students from San Diego Middle School.
