Teaching reviews and recommendations

Teaching include UDL techniquies such as when a student that was diagnosed with Williams Disease. She could not understand parts of a system in relationship in relationship to the whole system. We conducted reading lessons about rainforest creatures and aligned cartoon drawing lessons with the reading passages. The result is so successful that the student’s mother wrote this reply to our team of teachers.

Subject: Rebecca and Drawing

"During the 2012-2013 school year my daughter was lucky enough to have"Mr Mike" assist in her classroom. She has learned so much from him as I am sure all the kids have. But Rebecca is a bit different from her classmates. Rebecca has Williams syndrome. Children with Williams have difficulties with fine motor skills and with transferring what they see onto paper. Usually they will focus on the parts of a drawing and not worry about where that part goes in the bigger picture. The first time she brought home a drawing where the face had eyes, nose and mouth and they were all where they should be... I cried. She will never be a great artist, but thanks to Mr Mike she is now able to enjoy drawing."
